My name’s Alex Patrone, and I’m a high school student trying to find something to do during quarantine. A quick glance at the news will tell you that it doesn’t take a lot now-a-days to feel like the world is just crumbling around you. Since I am fortunate enough to be minimally affected by the pandemic so far, I wanted to do my part to help. This happened to coincide with the delivery of a 3D printer for my birthday. I had been printing all sorts of things for my family to use around the house, things like towel hooks, toys, puzzles, display models, containers, stands, mask accessories, and much more. So, I took this thing that I knew and loved and combined it with this feeling of obligation to help those less fortunate (plus a ton of free time, which didn’t hurt), and made a little thing called Will Print for Food.
Here’s how it works:
I am offering my 3D printing capability to the public (that’s you) in order to incentivize donations to charity. All you have to do is find something that you want 3D printed, and I’ll print it for you.
-The prints aren’t going to be massive, considering my print bed is 18x18x18cm (7x7x7in), but things can be printed in parts then assembled or scaled down. If you’re unsure, just shoot me an email.
-There are thousands of files onThingiverse to check out, so it’s a great place to start.
-Here is a list of cool prints found on Thingiverse to browse through if you don’t feel like browsing the website itself or anywhere else on the internet.
-Want a custom-designed print for a unique task or measurement? Shoot me an email.
Cost:
-Whatever you pay, minus the small materials (rounded up to the nearest dollar) and shipping cost , will go straight to charity (100% of profit).
-If you live near or in the zip code 21042, you may be eligible for free local delivery from me. Enter your zip code when ordering and I will let you know.
Rocket -2187088 - About $0.25 (would round to $1.00) in filament
-So, if someone were to purchase a print of this Fillennium Malcon model for $20.00, with a materials cost of -$3.00, and a typical shipping cost of $7.00 (if not eligible for local delivery) $10.00 will be donated ($5.00 to each charity).
*These example materials costs might change depending on adjustments to settings such as scale
DISCLAIMER: Unless otherwise specified, I do not own any ofthese designs, and I am simply offering the ability to print them to incentivize donations to third-party charities
